For me, the irony of blogging in the winter is that I have more time to post, as I'm not so busy with the garden.....but there isn't as much to write about.
I'm thinking about doing a series of posts on some of the new flowers I tried this past summer.
After the holidays, I look forward to sitting down and browsing my stack of new seed catalogs. :-)

What a fun read! I have a co-worker who likes to write poetry, but has been saying she has writers' block. I suggested she take the time to just sit and write whatever comes out. That's sort of kind of what you did.

I'd have to agree with VP, a mild case of writer's block for sure. There is always something to write about and I bet that nap helped too. Gail will be mighty upset to find your deer friends over here in our state:) I wish I was smart enough to do Sudoku. I do like the crosswords but that Sudoku is way too hard for me. It should keep you occupied for days I would think as I know it takes me that long to do one puzzle.

Meems -- I'm usually full of ideas and can't wait to write. Yesterday, the son who is in pharmacy school came for dinner and stayed late. The other son who is digging in the snow in PA/NY has been finding prehistoric artifacts (he's the archaeologist). He was emailing me about gift ideas, about coming home, and asking for my help in trip planning. There were so many things going on that I completely "left the gardening world" for the evening!

Cameron, If this is blogger's block then I'm doomed... you are always so interesting to read. I LOVE, LOVE your house and the views from your windows. My problem is I have ideas for posts all the time and not enough time to write for them. There are several in the que right now. I know, I'll send mine over to you and you can finish them. LOL.

Sometimes I wish I could get by without writing at all and only put up my photos... but that doesn't work either.

@ Marnie, I loved your post on birds and suet and the snow!

Gail -- I had no idea that blogging would be a full time job! Of course, if you do what you love, you'll never work another day in your life (unknown author of that statement -- not me).

FGG -- Sometimes I wonder if gardener's should have a book exchange like we do seeds and plants. However, who EVER gives up their gardening books. I gave up my house building blog although it's out there, I don't update it. You and I both built large kitchens...I'm ready to start cooking for the holidays!

Don -- our greyhound is pretty entertaining, but she's not mischievous like a cat.

Cosmo -- glad to meet another Sudoku addict!

Marnie -- I LOVE your bird stories and photos! Please continue and we'll never be bored. We lost a Cedar Waxwing today. She flew into one of our upper windows and fell to the deck. :-( She was a beauty. On a cloudy day, the windows reflect the trees in the woods on the north side of the house.

Rob -- I think you're right about Piet. I think he's changing gardening -- I'm going out on a limb here -- with the same kind of impact as some of the past greats like Gertrude Jekyll. His new style will be classic. It's such a marvelous look that I think will withstand the times because it's also low maintenance and uses native plants. I'd love to his some of his gardens in person.

Cameron--1) Everyone needs a day off now and then; 2) your "block" has produced a very entertaining post with a little catch up for those of us who have missed previous posts; 3) IT IS SO COOL that you do Sudoku--I have to limit myself to one a day (one's too many, two's not enough).

I liked the glimpse of your garden room--another beautiful spot in your beautiful home. I really liked this posting.

Hey, I'm clogging to your little award buddies below and they are very cool. Ok, so I guess today I'll be doing a post on my best performer. I also need to go to the book store. I actually don't have many gardening books. I have my southern living plant guide but that's information and not inspiration.

Toby Bost brother is the mayor of our town. What a nice family. He has a book out that I want. How do you limit yourself. I could always clean!

Then views from you home are beautiful. Maybe you should start another linky called views from your living room/morning room/etc.

I get it too and then I just take a break from blogging that day...go for a walk, look around and see what comes to me...Usually something strikes me as interesting. Did you ever think blogging would be almost a full time job?

I don't have Gardener's World. I vaguely remember being impressed with a online article about butterflies in the UK. I hope I didn't say anything too lame since it's now in print. LOL

Hi Cameron - I got writer's block at my writing class and ended up writing about it for one of homeworks ;)

I think your case of it's fairly mild judging by the writing in this post :)

A very timely mention of Gardens Illustrated - does your magazine stash include its partner magazine Gardeners' World? I was reading my December edition last night and guess what - you're mentioned in it! They've picked up on one of your comments on the magazine website!
